Craft Swopping

A couple weeks ago I was asked by the lovely Megan from Megan Tucker Illustration as to whether I would like to take part in a Craft Swop Circle. Needless to say, I had no idea what she initially meant but couldn't wait to take part. It was pretty simple, we all put together a little box of craft materials that we could use but aren't using at the moment so that someone else can make use of them and potentially expand their craft repertoire.

In each box we had to nominate a 'craft dare' this is where we had to challenge the recipient to make something new with something that we had included. Emma, the lovely lady from Devotion to the Dream sent me this box and my dare was the Mister Huey's Color Mist and stencil. Now, I'm not going to lie, I have never, ever heard of these before so I wasn't really sure what to do with it. So, I grabbed a kraft box and started stenciling! Needless to say I got it everywhere but it left quite a fun effect!

It's definitely not perfect but I gave it ago and tried something new. I did think about using it to decorate the inside of the boxes for medium sized orders but after touching it I realised that some of it came away on my fingers so I think I'll leave that idea for now unless someone knows of a way to fix it?

My first experience of a craft circle swop has been a good one and it's meant that I've tried something new and found some new, interesting and creative people to follow. If you have a great crowd of crafty friends then I definitely recommend creating your own craft circle swop. You'll end up with lots of new bits and bobs that may even help you to create your next big thing. Who knows?
