New downloads section!

I've been wanting to bring back a free downloads section for a while now and a blog post I read by Jenny Hyde earlier this week helped to push it along a little.

I'm a worrier and I'm a lists person. I'm also very forgetful. I try to write everything that I need to do down because otherwise it just doesn't get done. I have a diary... which I forget to use. So as you can imagine, my desk is covered in pieces of paper with things to do scrawled all over them.

It was this bit of Jenny's post that got me thinking about my own lists:
If you need a bit of clarity on your to-do list, ask yourself:
  • Does it have a definite deadline? If so, stick to it. If not, reconsider.
  • Will it make a difference to your business today, next month, or by the end of the year? If it’s going to radically improve your sales/income, efficiency or brand perception, move it closer to the top of the list.
  • Is it something you really, really want to do? If it isn’t going to get you out of bed in the morning, it goes down the list. And make sure you’re really imagining the reality of making whatever it is happen – unglamorous boring bits and all.
I have the tendency to write lists and tick them off in any order as and when I decide to act on them. All the most important things usually get ticked off first and then the other bits just lay around until I do them or until they get moved to another list.

So, what I have done to help organise myself (and you guys, if you want) is to create two new lists.

The first is for the most important things that need doing, things that you can't ignore no matter how boring. They are necessary and you need to do them. In my case that would be things like, sort out the mountain of invoices and other paperwork, think about doing my tax return and sending out this months invoices.

The second is for things that still need doing but they are less important than the first list. These are things that may not have such a close deadline or tiny little tweaks to things here and there. For example, in my case this week it was adding some new social media icons to this site and making a list of things that I need to buy stock-wise.

These lists are now available to download for free in my downloads section of this website. All you need to do is print them out and then scribble all over them to your hearts content! I hope that you find them useful as I know that I will.
